"Happy New Year" or "Favorite Project" Whimsical Wednesday Challenge

Good morning Whimsical Crafters. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Even though I was completely exhausted by the time the day came to an end, I was sad to see it go! So much preparing goes into the day, and it is over with a blink of an eye. We had a fabulous day. The three year old was specially fun this year because she understood about "Santa" coming. As a matter of fact, she kept saying "I am so excited for my first Christmas" LOL.

For our Whimsical Wednesday Challenge today we thought it would be fun to either upload your favorite project that you created this past year, or create a new card/project to celebrate the New Year. I chose to share my favorite card with you from this year.
Here is the details from my original post on March 17. I used the Accent Essentials cartridge for the card base and welded it together in my gypsy. I really like finding fun shapes to use as card bases, and I thought this one was perfect because it looks like a big sun or a flower. I embossed only the top portion of the blue layer so it would look like clouds and then inked it with Stampin' Up White Kraft Ink. Everything is cut out twice and pop dotted to add dimension. Here is a list of the rest of supplies used for this card:
Cardstock: Kraft, Stampin' Up & Bazzil
Create A Critter: Grass (welded together), Tulips, and Snail
Simply Charmed: Tree
Doodle Charms: Sun
Peachy Keen Stamps: Simple Sallies Face Assortment (snail) PK-531 and Happy Lashes Assortment (sun) PK-460
Twine: HoneyDew from The Twinery
Tim Holtz Alterations: Swirls Set embossing folder
Color box fluid chalk, stickles, glossy accents, white jelly roll pen

And now presenting the projects from the oh so talented Design Team:
As I was uploading the "Celebrate New Year" projects I was thinking about how we are going to have to get used to witting 2012. It always takes me a month or so to get into the habit. All of the designers projects looks fabulous as always. I think we have an even split between new and old projects.  Don't forget to click on the designers names to head on over to their blogs and leave them some love:)

I realized that I never announced the winner for the "Winter Fun" challenge for three of Cindy's digital stamps. That winner is #27 Kathy Curry. Congrats Kathy. Please e-mail me so that I can give you the details of how to chose your digis. Thanks Cindy for the sponsorship:)

This week one random winner that uploads their project will get a pair of pink Cutter Bee Scissors:

We now have three Whimsical Challenges opened to keep you busy. The Christmas Tags challenge, Home For The Holidays challenge, and this one.

A quick reminder that all Whimsical Designs Stamps are now shipping. You can see all four sets by clicking on the shop tab.

If you chose to upload your favorite project from this past year, please treat this as you would any other post for a new project. In order to be eligable for the prize you must create a new post saying that you entered your project here, with a link to the challenge (in other words you can't just upload your favorite project from its original post). Any questions just shoot me an e-mail.

Here are the guidelines for the challenge:
1. Upload your favorite card/project from this past year or create a brand new card/project to celebrate the New Year.
2. You are only allowed to submit one project per challenge
3. Please put in your post that you entered your project into this challenge with a link to this blog. I do not ask that you make a project just for my challenge. I know that there are lots of fun challenge blogs out there and I encourage you to play along in as many as you want:) So go ahead and enter your project where ever you like.
4. In order to become eligible for the prizes you must enter the challenge, become a follower of this blog, and leave a comment under our post's
5. Link your project to InLinkz by January 11 at 12:01am EST .
We have a brand new challenge every week, but each challenge stays opened for two weeks. Since the 'Christmas Tag" challenge was something a little different I am keeping that opened until  New Years Day. We love seeing all your projects each week, and all appreciate your support. Most of all don't forget to have fun:)

Just in case I don't post again until next week (I have been so busy spending time with family, and enjoying the holidays), I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year on behalf of myself and the Whimsical Design Team;)

Christmas Gift Card Holders

Hello Whimsical Crafters. Can you even believe that Christmas is two days away? My three year old is getting a bit anxious, and can't wait to see what Santa will bring her. Today I have a quick project for you. I made a couple of gift card holders and used pieces from the Christmas picks I used for my project on Wednesdays, "Home For The Holidays" home decor challenge, to dress them up a bit.
These are super simple to make. Cut your base to 5 3/4 X 4. Then on the 5 3/4 side score at 4 1/4 and 2. Once you fold at the score lines you will see exactly how this holder works. Cut your inside strip to 4 X 3/4. I used my Crop A Dile to punch holes on each side (be sure to go all the way through the three layers) to attach my brads. This is what holds the pocket closed so you can slip your gift card in. Cut your outside layer 3 7/8 X 1 3/4. If you chose to use a belly band to hold it shut cut that at 5 1/2 X 1. Embellish as desired. For this gift card, instead of using a belly band to keep the holder shut, I used two magnets (I would have preferred velcro, but every time I go to the store I forget to buy some). I put one on the inside under the strip, and the other on the back of the oval scallop. The sentiment is from my "Snow Much Fun" stamp set. Here is a view of the inside.
So that I can tell who the cards are for I simply wrote their initial on the back (very small and faint in pencil).

This one looks so much prettier in person. The little embellishments look like a hodpodge of a mess (I got that phrase from Margie) in the photo. I used my "Whimsical Fun" Stamp set for the sentiment. I stamped it using my versa mark ink pad, and then embossed it in silver embossing powder by Ranger. I am really liking the Ranger brand of embossing powder.

There you have it. Super quick, and super simple. There are a lot of options when making gift card holders, just experiment with different folds, edge punches, and embellishments.

You can see all my stamp sets in my new stamp line by visiting my shop, just click on the shop tab at the top of my blog. All sets are currently shipping.

Thank you for stopping by today, and have a wonderful day:) I am off to finish up the rest of my holiday shopping.

"Home For The Holidays" Whimsical Wednesday Challenge

All my stamps sets are NOW shipping. You can purchase them in my shop.

Hello Whimsical Crafters. Can you believe there is only 4 more days till Christmas? I can't! Still have lots to do. Today we thought we would give you some last minute Christmas Home Decor ideas. We are challenging you to create your own Christmas or New Year Home Decor.

My first project was lots of fun, and very quick to make. This year I bought a bunch of the Christmas picks, they were on clearance last month before Thanksgiving was even here. Here is a picture of all of them:
And here is just one project I made with them:

I put  Styrofoam balls inside the mug and stuck the pick in, and sat the little snowman on top. I used my "Snow Much Fun" set and stamped the "Free Snowman Hugs" on a tag cut from Winter Woodland. I attached some brads, then attached the little sign with twine. Super easy. I have some more projects ready to post for Friday using the same Christmas picks. For the next project I used a box from the Tim Holtz Configuration boxes and made an ornament.
All of the cuts are from the online Silhouette store. I embossed the stocking with a Sizzix Peppermint Twist & Scallops Set folder. Sabrina used this on a previous project and I LOVED it. I put a little Flowersoft, Tim Holtz White Picket Fence Crackle Paint, and Pearls with my Viva Pearl Pen on the Christmas Tree. For the present, I covered a tiny box in some paper from Graphic 45 and tied a bow around it. The sentiment "Trim The Tree" is from my "Snow Much Fun" Stamp Set. I tied a bow around the box and attached a hook on the top to hang from my Christmas tree.  There you have it, two fairly quick home decor projects:)

Here are the designers wonderful projects:

"All My Friends Are Flakes"

Whimsical Designs Stamp Line-Update
Finally! I am not sure what is going on with blogger but I have not been able to upload pictures or even post from my blog since Friday. In addition, some of my badges, labels, and post have disappeared. I also hear there is trouble with commenting. If you head on over to my Shop it says all stamps will start shipping next week. That is not the case all stamps are now shipping! There is something wrong with that page and I can't get in to correct it. My Madeline..notice how I say my..lol.., is in the middle of a move and won't have internet access till tomorrow. Once she gets the chance she will get it all straightened out. So that was my little stamp update.
I am sure you have all heard me rave over my super sweet friend Cindy's digital stamps..between my blog, facebook, and twitter I think I just may have promoted her blog more than mine..lol! Well that is what friends are all about, right, and I believe in her talent. In case you have not heard, Cindy has decided to take a break from her weekly Scraptastic Challenges, and from the Whimsical Designs team. It is only temporary while she takes some time to draw up some more of her fabulous digital stamps. Not too worry I won't let her stay away long..I will be there once again twisting her arm, just like I did when she needed a nudge to start up her own shop:) The Whimsical Design team will miss her talent and inspiration but we also understand that she needs to do what is going to make her happy and work for her.
Now for my card. This funny snowman has been waiting since Friday to make his debut, I was worried he was going to start throwing snowballs at me....

He is suppose to be juggling his snowball friends around. See those little snowflakes on the snow balls- Cindy drew those and the other little accent stamps that you see on my stamps sets.  The snowman is from the Doodle Charms Cart. I used Peachy Keen Stamps- Happy Lashes Assortment for his face. I used some Stampin' Up chalk to make his stick arms brown, and did some inking around the edges of him. I am going to be adding this into the Peachy Keen Challenge and the requirement was fabric. So I made his scarf out of felt. I did not have any blue felt so I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks to die it. *Disclamer* this stuff stains your fingers, and if you are going to die anything like this with his inks, be sure to sandwich your item between two paper towels, and apply pressure. You will be surprised how much ink comes out, even though you think it is dry. I failed to do this and it wound up dying my little snowman blue..so I need to start over!  I added lots of glitter to the snowballs, and the bottom of the layer that snowman is on..it is suppose to look like he is standing in snow. The little pearls around the edge of the card, which is from Once Upon A Princess, were done with my viva decor pen. To finish it off I added a little bow, and the "All My Friends Are Flakes" sentiment from my Snow Much Fun Stamp Set. You can purchase all of my stamps at my Shop.

Don't forget we have two active Whimsical Challenges for you to still enter "Christmas Tags", that will remain open until December 31, and "Winter Fun" closes in two days.

Before I go I want to thank you all for the sweet compliments on my stamps, and those of who have purchased them. I am so glad you all like the sentiments and the font. When I designed the stamps it was very important to me that you all had a variety of fun font to chose from, in addition to being able to fit them into punches, and dies you already own. Save money where you can right?

Thanks for stopping by today:) On Wednesday the fabulous Whimsical Designers will be right here sharing another brand new challenge with you all.

Today I am entering my card into:
1. Pile It On-Bling it Up
2. Peachy Keen-Lets Face It Friday-Add Fabric
3. Paper Crafting Journey-Christmas
4. Through The Craftroom Door-Circle card with blue and white
5. She's A Sassy Lady- Anything goes Christmas

Whimsical Wednesday

Hello Whimsical Friends. The Whimsical Design Team is taking this week off to catch up with Holiday stuff. You still have time to enter the "Winter Fun" challenge, and I have a little something fun for today that you can enter, and a yummy Timmy Die for a prize. At the end of the post I will be announcing the winners from all the combined four challenges, and the "Layer It" Challenge.

I have been following along with Tim Holtz 12 Days Of Christmas. Tim finished his last tag on December 12 but you have until December 31 to upload your tags onto his blog. If you have not checked it out you really should..there are so many techniques and ideas packed into the 12 days. Tim never disappoints:) I would like to share with you my take on the Day One Tag:
I guess the idea of the 12 days of Christmas tags is to get as close as you can to Tim's tags. The only Tim Holtz item I had in my stash for this tag is the Holiday Collection of Distress inks, so I needed to make it work with what I have. I started out by inking up my embossing folder, Cuttlebug-Snowflakes, with versa mark, and then running the tag through my Big Kick. Then I quickly applied Stampin' Up White Embossing Powder, and heated it with my heat tool. I used Core'dinations Cardstock for the tag, so after embossing I sanded the raised areas. I used my Silhouette to cut all the greenery. The set is called  3D Wintergreens. The pinecone is also from that set, and is cut out using Kraft Cardstock from the Kraft Outlet. I used picket fence Crackle Paint to paint the ends so it looked like snow. I really like the pinecone, however, I think it was designed to be cut out on the bigger side. Since mine was going on a tag, I needed it to be small..needless to say it was really hard assembling it. I really wanted it to be smaller so that I could have two, but there was no way that was going to happen. I feel like my tag does not do them justice, I know they would be perfect if they were cut bigger. I added flower soft to the holly leaves, and distressed them with Tim Holtz Iced Spruce (also went over the entire tag with the same ink). The letters come from Plantin SchoolBook and the Swirl is from Home Accents. I glittered them with Martha Stewart glitter. The Shabby Crinkle ribbon is from the Prairie Bird Boutique. I put some pearls on a pin and attached a jump ring so that I could hang it from my ribbon. That sentiment "Tis The Season" is from my stamp set called "Snow Much Fun". I embossed it with silver embossing powder and then inked over it with the iced spruce distress ink. All four sets in my new stamp line can be found at my shop by clicking the top tab or by clicking here. Here is a close up:
Even though this is technically not a challenge I thought it would be fun to see what others have been doing with the 12 Days Of Christmas tags. So go ahead an upload your Tim inspired tags..or any Christmas tags that you have made. It is okay if its an older post. There is really no rules for this. Just make sure you put in your post that you entered your tag here, with a link to my blog. You can enter as many times as you would like just make sure it is a different tag of course. I really like Tim's Tattered Pine Cone die that he used on his tag. The big reason is because you can also make beautiful roses with it. Here is a gorgeous altered frame that Tim made using the die:
 Blog Candy
Gorgeous, the roses are the pinecone!! Since Custom Crops had the die on sale, I purchased two: one for me and one for one random winner that uploads their tag to the linky. I will keep this opened until December 31 at midnight.
 WINNERS
Now for the winners! The random winner of the "Layer It Challenge" is #2 Holly. The random winner of the combined last four challenges is Chris Olsen. Congrats ladies. Please email me your addresses so that I can get you your prizes. E-mail is under the contact button.

"Scraptastic Monday" Sweet Gift- No Peeking

Good morning whimsical crafters. Did everyone have a nice productive weekend??? I am not one bit further with the Christmas shopping. We went to NYC on Saturday to see the Christmas Spectacular. It was a lot of fun, and sure got us into the Christmas spirit. We will head back into the city next week and do all the shopping in one day. It is time for another scraptastic challenge with Cindy and her fabulous digital stamps. This week we had to make an actual Christmas ornament or a card/tag with a Christmas ornament on it. You do not have to use a digital stamp to participate in Cindy's challenges. This week I used Cindy's digital image called "Sweet Gift." So adorable.

I used my Prisma Colored pencils for this cute little puppy and the present. I added some flower soft to the tree branches, and the rim and pom pom of the Santa Hat. For the red berries I used a Viva Decor Pearl Pen. For a little sparkle stickles was added to the little ornaments.  I used my Decorative Elements Nestabilites: Fleur De Lis Squares for my ornament. The image is pop-dotted on. You can find this digi, and all of Cindy's other adorable images right here. I used my "No Peeking" sentiment from my Snow Much Fun stamp set. You can find this set and the rest of my first release in my shop here. Here is a close up:

"Winter Fun" Whimsical Designs Challenge

Good morning Whimsical Crafters! It is challenge day, and today we are creating any card/project that is Christmas/Winter themed and must include something sparkly on it. This can be done by using a pre-made sparkly embellishment, or by adding something (glimmer mist, stickles, bling) to your project to make it sparkle. I have been wanting to make a poinsettia for a while, and I thought this would be a great time:
I have to start off my saying that at this moment my cat is not my favorite furry friend. When I was putting the little pearl in the center with my pearl pen she banged my arm and made me smear my little pearl! URGH..anyone wants a cat I will ship her to you..lol:) This poinsettia comes from SVG cuts.com and is cut with my Silhouette. I added Diamond Dust to the leaves to give it some sparkle, and a sort of icy/snowy looks. I already told you what is in the center. To add some more sparkle I added some Say It With Pearls by Prima. The edge punch is Friskars- Holly. The "Merry Christmas" sentiment is from my Snow Much Fun set. It is available for purchase here at my shop. I am a little dissapointed in the way this photographed. It is one of those cards that is really pretty in person. A different angle:

Now for the Whimsical Team:)
Lots of sparkly wintery fun. I have to say that I am so impressed with the way these team has been showcasing my stamps. They are all doing such a fantastic job..I just adore each one of them. We are all having so much fun:) Be sure to hop on over to their blog to get all the info on the projects, and to find out what fun Whimsical Designs Stamps they used.

Scraptastic Monday "Free Snowman Hugs"

Hello whimsical crafters. Hope you all had a great weekend. Is everyone almost done with their Christmas shopping? I have not even started yet. Me and the hubby will be rushing around at the last minute. Last year it was Christmas morning and I was still wrapping presents. I hope it won't be that last minute this year. It is time for another "Scraptastic Monday" challenge with Cindy:) This week we had to make a winter/Christmas themed card/project, and we had to include a snowflake OR a snowman. I made a criss cross pocket card and used Cindy's adorable digital image called cute snowman couple..the name sure is fitting!
So cute! You can find this digi, and many more over at Cindy's Shop. I used my Nesties Lacey Circle die to cut out the snow couple. They are colored with my Prisma colored pencils. For the white of the snowman I used my Creative Inspiration Paints-Winter Frost (love these paints), for the poinsettia and the candy cane-I used Garnet. I added some flock to the the rim of the hat and the cuffs of the sleeves on the Misses:). I ran out of my white liquid applique so I used some chunky white glitter for the snow. I added an eyelet and some twine to the insert card. That sentiment is from one of my new stamp sets called "Snow Much Fun". Here is a close up.
You can find "Snow Much Fun" and the other three sets in my release here at my shop.

This week I am sponsoring Cindy's Challenge, and one random winner will get  the "Snow Much Fun" stamp set.
Want to see the rest of the sentiments? Head on over to the Whimsical Shop.

Cindy also has another prize she is giving away but to find out what it is you are going to have to hop on over to her fantastic blog. All of the projects from the super talented Scraptastic design team is over there too, you won't want to miss them:)

Whimsical Design's Stamp Release Blog Hop

Good morning Whimsical Crafters:) For the past two day myself and the Whimsical Designers have been giving you sneak peeks of my new stamp sets. They have done the most amazing job! Many thanks to my wonderful designers. Today is the Whimsical Designs Stamp Release Blog Hop, and I am so excited to be revealing the first four stamp sets in my new stamp line. I had so much fun designing these, and I LOVE the way they turned out. I have designed these to be very versatile, as I wanted to create sets that you can get a lot of use out of. They all have different fonts on them, in all sorts of styles, from elegant to playful. One of my favorite things about these is I designed them to fit in your standard sized oval, circle, and square punches. Most of them will also fit into the nestabilities dies. In addition, the stamps are made in the USA from the best polymer available! I have been very impressed with how wonderful they stamp, and emboss. You do not need to apply much pressure when inking or stamping. Here is the  reveal of the sets:

For my card today I used my "Snow Much Fun" set and the "Elves at Work!" sentiment. I love this set because it can be used throughout the winter season. I added lots of stickles to him, some flock for the furry part of his hat, and a little bell at the end. I cut that mat from the Spring Time Cart and inked it up.
